One of the most unique aspects living here in Rosarito is the view. We see the ocean, we hear the ocean, we smell the ocean, we feel the ocean, we taste the ocean. Coming from Chicago, we only knew the ocean from tv, movies or books. Some people never see it. Some visit for vacation. But the lucky ones actually leave Chicago and live by the ocean. My parents did that after they retired. They could see the ocean, the beach, the sunsets every day. I have been living here in Rosarito Beach for over a decade and I am still amazed of the views. It is a living picture. Dolphins jumping over the waves. Pelicans diving into the waters, finding a meal. Cruise ships at night with their lights. A sailboat once in a while. And if we are lucky, a whale.
No matter what, the most impressive thing is the sunsets. I started with photography 10 years ago and began with sunsets. Most people watch the sun sets and they leave. But no, the best way is to watch when the sun hits the ocean and then continue to stare as it sets, and finally see the final light. The final part is when the colors change, especially when there are clouds. The colors go from white to pink, red, yellow, orange.
They shift in seconds. The colors are intense when the sun sets and when it rises. The Golden Hour. The light from the sun at sunrise and sunsets magnifies the colors of everything such as the green of a leaf, the red of a rose, the yellow of a brick…. We cannot see much from the sunrise here because we have mountains, unless we are at the top and can see it. But the sunsets here are amazing. Especially during winter months. The colors and clouds are fantastic. It is really amazing to see it. They are different every day. It soothes one's soul to see when the sun touches the ocean and changes the colors of the sky.
That is why we are lucky to live here.
